The church is inside the Castle and is one of the oldest churches on the island. It was built in 1804. For its construction, the whole village helped and stones from the Castle wall were used. In fact, among them there are three plaques-inscriptions referring to the Genovese Gattelussi family, who were rulers of the island during the 15th century.
Nowadays, the church is preserved in very good condition and is surrounded by a high stone wall with two entrances. It is a three-aisled basilica, with a gynekonite and an impressive wooden iconostasis, painted in five horizontal zones.
