Learning the local history of the 20th century
The two-story building was built in 1907. It was built on the plans of an Italian architect. Interesting inside is the use of timber from the Siberian Arkhangelsk. After the liberation of the town in 1920, the building was used as a storage area for products or a silkworm breeding farm. Its development and renovation as a military museum began in 1996 and in 2000 it opened its doors to the public.
On the ground floor are exhibited medals from the period of the 1821 Revolution of Independence, the two world wars and later ones. Photographs of fallen soldiers originating from Evros and historical photos from the World War I, the Asia Minor Campaign which are related to Thrace. On the first floor are exhibited relics, paintings, photographs, uniforms, and weaponry from 1821 to the end of the 20th century. Among them are spoils of war, uniforms, armaments of Italian and German soldiers. Outside, tanks and cannons are on display.
