Ethnological Museum of Thrace

Presenting the history of Thrace

The Ethnological Museum of Thrace has been operating since 2002. Its aim is to preserve historical memory through the study, research, and promotion of Thracian culture.

The Museum's exhibits are divided into thematic sections. Music and worship in Thrace, nutrition, bronze and clay objects, textiles, agriculture, and clothing. Within the themes, objects and tools are presented and brought to life through photographs and other visual material.

The museum is housed in a distinctive neoclassical building dated 1899. It was the bourgeois mansion of Miltiadis Altinalmasis, a significant citizen of Adrianople, who played an important role in the political and economic life of the area.

A visit to the Ethnological Museum of Thrace helps the visitor to get acquainted with the history and anthropogeography of the region in the most pleasant and direct way.
