The sanctuary of Poseidon is located near the port of the city.  It is one of the many sanctuaries of the ancient city of Thassos and was built in the 5th century BC. It consists of spaces and rooms for the ritual of the god. At the same time, in the same place, Hera Epilimenia was worshiped, as an inscription informs us, and Aphrodite Pelagia, as a statue of her was found in the sanctuary.
