The common cuckoo (Lat. Cuculus canorus) is a medium-sized migratory bird that is widespread throughout Europe and Asia. It winters in Africa and is the first bird to return to our country in early April. For this reason, the common cuckoo is regarded as the first harbinger of spring. Its sound, like a goo-ko song, is most characteristic.
The common cuckoo is considered a brood parasite in that it lays its eggs in the nests of other bird species! The host is usually unable to spot the cuckoo egg, and therefore, adapts the newborns!
