The Town Hall of Kavala is housed in the old residence of the Hungarian tobacco merchant Baron Pierre Herzog. It was built at the end of the 19th century as the residence and headquarters of the Hungarian tobacco merchant's activities. Architecturally the mansion combines various elements and styles of central Europe such as the turrets, the bay window overhanging the masonry, the Gothic arches and those in the turrets and many more. Since 1937 when it was purchased by the Municipality of Kavala, it has housed the Mayor's office and other services.
