Thracian folklore in the mansions of Komotini
The Folklore Museum of Komotini is housed in two excellent examples of traditional architecture, the Peidis mansion and the mansion of the Psara family. It belongs to the Cultural Club of Komotini and operates under the auspices of the Municipal Public Benefit Corporation for Culture, Education and Sports of Komotini (DKEPPAK). The exhibits of the museum include various objects of folk art, household utensils, traditional costumes, embroidery, agricultural and other tools of the past. Geographically they come from various regions of Thrace and Central Asia.
Exhibits include the icon of Christ with other saints and a silver reliquary that belonged to Archbishop Chrysanthos of Athens, born in Komotini.
