The ruins of the medieval Potamos Castle are located outside the small village of Avas. Access to the fortification area is not very easy because of the dense vegetation. Quite a large part of the castle is preserved, such as two towers with a square plan and part of the walls. The dating of the castle is not confirmed, but it is assumed that it was built in the 13th century by the Genoese lords of the area, the Gatelouzi.
