The tree heath (lat. Erica arborea) is an evergreen shrub with a wide distribution throughout the Mediterranean, from Spain, Portugal, and France to the Dalmatian Coasts, Italy, Greece, and Turkey. It also occurs in the countries of North-West Africa. In Greece, it is found almost all over the country, in areas with a relatively low altitude, where it forms thickets.
