The Jerusalem thorn (lat. Paliurus spina - christi) also known as Christ's thorn, the crown of thorns, or garland thorn is a deciduous shrub with characteristic leaves and thorns; it is native to the Mediterranean region, south-west and central Asia, and north-west Africa. It is widespread in Greece. It has been known for its medicinal properties since antiquity.
