Town in the region of Kavala. Its name means "almond grove". In the past, most of its inhabitants were Muslims, who, after the Treaty of Lausanne, were moved to Turkey, while Greeks from Cappadocia and Pontus settled in Amygdaleonas.
Very close to the town there is the artificial Aesthetic Forest of Amygdaleonas, which is a natural attraction and an ideal setting for outdoor recreational activities.
