The downy oak (lat. Quercus pubescens), also known as the pubescent oak, is a species of oak that is widespread in Central and Southern Europe. It is native to southern Europe and southwest Asia. It is a medium-sized deciduous tree with characteristic heart-shaped leaves. The new branches, the lower surface of the leaves and the cup of the acorns are covered with yellowish pubescence.
