The beautiful neoclassical building of the Grand Club (Megali Leschi)
In 1910 the building of excellent architecture was completed by the “Philoptochos Adelfotis Kyrion Kavalas” Charity Brotherhood of Ladies of Kavala. It was built to house the Club of the Greek Community of Kavala while the city was still under Ottoman occupation. It is an example of Austrian Baroque with Neoclassical exterior elements such as the capitals, triangle gables and other architectural elements.
In its more than 100 years it has housed banking institutions, the Military Club, the Kavala Municipal Library. Important events for the life of Kavala have taken place in the Club. In the decade 2010-2020 a radical restoration and renovation was carried out. Today it operates as a cultural and exhibition center.
