Transforming a tobacco warehouse
The four-story building that today houses a luxury hotel was built in 1924 by the Austrian architect Konrad von Vilas to house the offices, factory and warehouses of "Hermann Spierer and Co". The size of the construction was so large by Drama standards that there was popular opposition as we read in local press reports. However, the factory was completed and operated until 1974. Since then its premises served the needs of tobacco storage.
