An exquisite example of local architecture
Kalogeriko is located in Limenas. It is one of the sights of the island, an exquisite example of local architecture. It is a two-story stone structure built in the middle of the 19th century with a slate roof. Its name is related to Mount Athos as it was “metochi” property of the Vatopedi Monastery. In the difficult years after the Asia Minor disaster, it housed refugees and later served as a school and a warehouse for the Archaeological Museum. Today it is the property of the Municipality of Thassos. On the ground floor it hosts cultural events while on the first floor a traditional house of Thassos is represented.
