A tobacco warehouse masterpiece of architecture
The Municipal Tobacco Warehouse was built in 1910. It belonged to the Turkish tobacco merchant Kiazim Emin and his company Kiazim Emin & Cie. In the building, the architectural elements of Ottoman neoclassicism are evident, combining elements of European neoclassical architecture.
Since 1970 it belongs to the municipality of Kavala and after a drastic restoration it is used as a cultural center. The ground floor houses the Naval Museum of Kavala.
