A Byzantine castle in Glafki
The ruins of a Byzantine fortress can be seen near the settlement of Glafki, on the hill Mesegouni. Its construction dates to the 10th century or in the late 13th/early 14th century. The latest dating seems to be more accurate. The fortress has a wall perimeter of 225m and its plan is rectangular. Outside the walls there was a moat, which can be seen on the north side. The walls are reinforced with two towers, one circular and one quadrilateral. The latter, on the north side of the fortress, is preserved at a height of about 8 m and has dimensions of 3mx4m while its western side is not preserved.
Access to the fortress is from the dirt road Myki-Mantaina or from Glafki through the ravine.
