The Post-Byzantine years in Evros through the surviving icons
The Ecclesiastical Museum of Didymoteicho is housed in the basement of the church of Panagia Eleftherotria (Mary the Liberator). Sacred objects, ecclesiastical utensils and vestments are on display. Important is the collection of icons that covers the period from the post-Byzantine period to the 20th century.
Of great historical and artistic value are the two-faced icons that come from the church of Christ the Savior.
