A journey to byzantine Koumoutzina through the Papanikolaou Collection
The Byzantine Museum of Komotini has been operating since March 1991. It is housed in the building of the benefactor of the city, Nikolaos Z. Papanikolaou. The Museum is located on the second floor of the building. Manuscripts on papyrus and parchment, ceramics and other rare exhibits are on display. On the first floor of the building there is an amphitheater with 320 seats for events and in the basement there is space for temporary art exhibitions. The future activities of the Foundation include the creation of a library and a reading room as well as a hagiography workshop.
