A combination of architectural styles and elements
The house of the tobacco merchant Dimitrios Tokos was built in 1879. The elements of Ottoman neoclassicism and baroque are combined with European romantic and eclectic elements.
The mansion changed many roles and housed various organizations or services, such as the Italian Consulate and the High School of the Greek Orthodox Community. During the years 1911-1913 it housed the Greek Consulate, then until 1937 the City Hall and after World War II the private Papasideris High School. It has been owned by the Ministry of Culture since the 1980s and today it houses the Ephorate of Antiquities of Kavala and Thassos.
