A small palace in Limenaria
Palataki, the small palace, is located on the hill above the port of Limenaria. It is a two-story building with two turrets at its ends, a typical example of an eclectic style of Central European architecture. It was built in 1903 to the designs of the Italian architect Pietro Arrigoni to house the director’s residence and offices of the German company Speidel, which operated the Kalamina mines close by.
In 1963 the building was abandoned. It has been declared a protected area since 1982 and restoration works are being carried out.
