The Thassian or Turkish pine (Latin name Pinus brutia) is a perennial evergreen tree. It resembles the common pine but differs in height as the Thassian is taller, straight and has thicker and longer needles. Apart from Thrace, this species thrives in Halkidiki, the islands of the North and East Aegean and Crete.
Some beaches have been reforested with Thassian pine.
