The grey alder (lat. Alnus incana) is a tree species that is found across the cooler parts of the Northern Hemisphere. Alders are deciduous, hydrophilic, semi-shady trees. They are commonly found near streams, rivers, and wetlands. They grow in forest clusters, several hundred meters long.
It is found in the Central Rodopi area of Greece, near the Nestos river, as well as in the area of Elatia.
