The oak (lat. Quercus) is a large, evergreen or semi-evergreen and perennial tree, characterized by moderate growth. There are historical reports according to which extensive oak forests used to cover the area in ancient times. Today, however, there are only few oak forests left in our country.
Compared to other species occurring in the area, the oak is a less flammable.
The oak honey of Thrace is excellent.
