The European badger (lat. Meles meles), also known as Eurasian badger, is a mammal that is endemic throughout Europe and Asia. It lives in mountainous areas in woodlands, usually in groups of six. In winter, they are much less active and, like other mustelids, their body temperature may fall slightly, but they do not properly hibernate and emerge to forage in mild weather.
It is grayish, with large black-and-white facial stripes.
