Pygmy cormorant

The pygmy cormorant (lat. Phalacrocorax pygmaeus) is a migrant bird and considerably smaller than other European cormorants. It has a characteristic red head and neck. The pygmy cormorant prefers wetlands, fresh or brackish, with abundant marshy vegetation. It feeds mainly on fish, caught by diving in shallow water.
