The Eurasian marsh harrier (Latin Circus aeruginosus), also known as the Western marsh harrier, is a predator and migratory bird that occurs typically in almost all European countries, Asia and north-west Africa. In Greece, it is both a permanent breeding resident and a winter visitor.
It lives in wetlands, especially those that are rich in reeds, while also showing a preference for other open habitats, such as agricultural and grassland areas or sand dunes, river deltas as well as lagoons.
