One of the oldest villages in the regional unit of Evros, on the Greek-Bulgarian border.
Alepochori means "fox village" because, according to tradition, an aga called the inhabitants “foxes”. Due to its location, during the civil war, Alepochori became a place of conflict with several victims.
In the village, there is the post-Byzantine church of Agios Athanasios, which was built in 1729 without windows and with a bell tower with representations of the sins. The inhabitants work mainly in agriculture and livestock breeding.
