Kato Karyofito

Village in the region of Xanthi, which is a listed traditional settlement. After the Greco-Turkish War (1919–1922), refugees from Eastern Thrace and Trabzon settled here. Today, almost no-one lives in the village. Sights include the stone bridge, the old watermill and the traditional fountain.

It is an ideal spot for organized mountain hiking and for 4x4 routes. Among the popular routes is a route of moderate difficulty, which connects the abandoned village of Kato Karyofyto with the settlement of Ano Karyofyto.
