Agiasma Lagoon is one of the many lagoons located in the western part of the Nestos Delta. It is part of the National Park of Eastern Macedonia and Thrace as a separate wetland. It features sandy dunes, sandy shores, arable land with irrigation canals, reedbeds, and salty marshes. The area is important for the nesting of waterfowl birds and terns. The lagoon serves as the wintering ground for many species, whereas it is also a convenient stopover for migratory birds.
