The European tree frog (lat. Hyla arborea) is an amphibian, a species of small-sized frog. Typically, it is bright green; however, depending on the temperature, the time of the day, or its mood, it might become gray, green, or dark brown. On the side, from the nostril to the hind legs, it has a dark stripe.
It occurs throughout much of Europe, Asia, and North Africa. In Greece, it is a common species. It lives in small and large wetlands of all kinds with shallow, stagnant water and aquatic vegetation. Generally, it is a nocturnal species, which is active at night, whereas it rests on leaves during the day, with its legs folded under its body.
