The yellow-bellied toad (lat. Bombina variegata) is an amphibian that is widespread throughout central and South-East Europe. In Greece, it has a wide distribution.
It occurs in many types of wetland, including lakes, ponds, swamps, rivers, stream pools, reservoirs, and even in ditches, and puddles. These wetlands can be found in deciduous and mixed or coniferous forests, scrubland, meadows, floodplains and grasslands, and even in urban areas.
The most distinctive feature of the yellow-bellied toad is the yellow-orange color with black dots of its belly.
