There was the place where a harsh king once committed the crime of incest and the dishonour of an impious act, which Philomela endured, repeating with her voice her sanguinary complaints. But so that this crime and the sufferings of the wife should not go unpunished, she, it is said, took her own vengeance and in frenzy fed the entrails of her son to her unfaithful husband.
